Section B — How it works

From DXF to defensible report.

01

Upload survey + proposed DXF.

02

Confirm jurisdiction & scopes.

We pull your city's zoning code from Municode. You pick which rule categories to check.

03

Run the precheck.

Geometric measurements against every applicable rule. Required vs. measured, with the citation.

04

Fix or submit with confidence.

Each violation links to its exact ordinance section. Re-run after edits within your monthly allotment.

FAQ

Direct answers.

What file formats do you accept?

DXF (R12 through 2024). Two files per project: a survey and your proposed plan. We parse layers automatically and let you confirm before the check runs.

Which jurisdictions are supported?

Any city or county that publishes its zoning code via Municode — currently 240+ jurisdictions in 18 states. If yours isn't listed, request it; we add new jurisdictions on a 2-week SLA on Team and Enterprise.

Is the result official?

No. Muniscan is a precheck — results are preliminary and do not constitute official approval. We surface the same rules your reviewer would, with the same citations, so you submit with fewer surprises.

How accurate are the measurements?

Geometric measurements are exact to the precision of your DXF. Rule interpretation includes a confidence score per finding — anything under 90% is flagged "Verify" so you can double-check before submitting.

Can I share findings with my client?

Yes. Export to PDF or JSON, or invite collaborators on the Team plan. Each finding links back to the verbatim ordinance text — clients can verify your work without learning your CAD software.

What happens to my files?

Your DXF stays in your account. We don't train models on customer files. Files can be deleted on request and are auto-purged 90 days after a project closes (configurable on Enterprise).
